Just for the Rest of the Day
In the quiet here this morning
I watch the last of my dreams slip away.
I sit back sipping coffee
imagining what I might say
I mean if you were sitting beside me
maybe thinking about whether you'd stay,
I mean just to see how it goes here,
I mean just for the rest of the day.
You know you can't remember tomorrow;
I'd rather forget yesterday.
You're the last dream on my mind right now;
I don't what it slipping away.
First I'd get you to laugh just a little,
maybe tell you some strange thing I knew;
but no matter how each sentence started,
it would always come back to you.
Then I think I'd come right out and ask you,
I mean if maybe you might want to stay,
I mean just to see how it goes here,
I mean just for the rest of the day.
You can't remember tomorrow;
I'd rather forget yesterday;
you're the last dream on my mind right now;
I don't want you slipping away.
You're the last dream on my mind right now;
I don't want you slipping away.

If I Was You
02:59
|

If I was you,
had nothing else to do,
I'd talk to me.
If you were me,
only one you'd ever want to see
is you.
I close my eyes,
I think of you;
I dream these dreams
as if they're true.
As time goes by
that's all I'd do
If you were me
and I was you.
If you were me,
only one you'd ever want to see
is you.
If I was you,
had nothing else to do,
I'd talk to me.
I close my eyes,
I think of you;
As time goes by
that's all I do.
I'd dream these dreams
until they're true.
If you were me
and I was you.
If you were me
and I was you.

All That I Have
02:46
|
|||
I said what I meant
when we walked side by side.
You've got nothing to prove,
I've got nothing to hide.
All that I have, it's all there for free.
All that I am, well, it's just what you see.
There's nothing to promise,
no need to explain.
You've got nothing to lose,
'cause I'm not looking to gain.
All that I have, it's all there for free.
All that I am, well, it's just what you see.
I'm not asking for something
you don't want to share.
Just know, if you need me,
I'll be there.
All that I have, it's all there for free.
All that I am, well, it's just what you see.
All that I have, it's all there for free.
All that I am, well, it's just what you see.

This afternoon I walked you home.
You showed me a few of your old poems.
So I recited some of mine,
my deepest voice, my finest lines.
So hard to know when love is true;
I might be falling in love with you,
because today I let you see
all the way to the fool in me.
We told some stories
about the thrills we once felt
when we were young
and first in love with someone else.
We told some stories
about the sadnessess we felt
when we were young
and first in love with someone else.
So hard to know when love is true;
I might be falling in love with you,
because today I let you see
all the way to the fool in me.
You made us both a cup of tea,
green for you, caffeine for me.
You told me sweet things about me you could see.
I told you sweet things I hoped I still could be.
So hard to know when love is true;
I might be falling in love with you,
because today I let you see
all the way to the fool in me.
because today I let you see
all the way to the fool in me.

Wishing Star
02:43

Wishing Star
I'm out in the yard
strumming my guitar
to the only star
I can see so far,
not quite day,
not yet night,
just a dark gray sky
with that speck of light.
Maybe it's one of those wishing stars.
How I wonder where you are.
If I wish hard enough, well it's here you'll be,
out in the yard sitting next to me.
Hear that music: it's not my guitar!
The sky's full of stars now,
the night is ours now.
Let's dance on the lawn
for the rest of the night,
just you and me
in starlight bright.
Let's dance on the lawn
for the rest of the night,
just you and me
in starlight bright,
just you and me
in starlight bright.

When All I See Is My Shadow
I still walk in the same woods we walked in,
pretty much every day.
I walk the same paths we walked on,
pretty much the same way.
Some days you're walking here with me,
some days now it's somebody else.
But when I look down at my shadow,
I always see I'm here just by myself.
No, I never feel quite alone here.
I never can figure out why.
I guess some days it's the trees walking with me,
some days it's the clouds in the sky.
And some days I'm falling in love with you.
Some days now it's somebody else.
And when all I see is my shadow,
I guess I'm falling in love by myself.
And when all I see is my shadow,
I guess I'm falling in love by myself.

How Time Will Fly
02:12
|

How Time Will Fly
Oh, how time will fly.
How time will fly.
One day you're laughing.
Next day you cry.
Oh, how time will fly.
How time will fly.
One day you say hello.
Next day you say goodbye.
How time will fly,
How time will fly,
One day you're planning when.
Next day you're wondering why.
How time will fly.
How time will fly.
One day you're laughing
Next day you cry.
