I keep thinking I’ll quit missing you, maybe find somebody new; doesn’t matter what I do it’s still the same. People come and people go; I still smile, say hello, tell them all they need to know If someone asks, I say I’m doing great, wants me there I won’t be late; when I have to I sit and wait. I play the game. But I still miss when I walk, miss you when I need to talk, and when I dream that you’re still here, the only sound I ever hear: the echo of your name. I keep thinking I’ll quit missing you, maybe find somebody new; doesn’t matter what I do it’s still the same. But I still miss when I walk, miss you when I need to talk, and when I dream that you’re still here, the only sound I ever hear: the echo of your name . . . of your name . . . of your name

If I had wings oh, I would fly to the other side of this dark sky a place I know of still see the glow of where lovers never cry. I saw it in a dream once, a strange and distant land; everyone was smiling walking hand in hand. Sun was shining bright, air was fresh and clean, soft clouds floated slowly, silver and serene. No one seemed to hurry yet nothing was postponed, and when darkness finally fell no one walked alone. Then everyone I ever loved entered a wide green field, all of them young again, all of them healed. They shimmered in the moonlight then settled down to rest, so peacefully, as if they all were blessed. A gentle hand took mine and led me toward the light; I rose up slowly off the ground and I took flight. If I had those wings again, oh, I would fly to the other side of this dark sky, find that place again by and by where lovers never cry Oh, I would fly past this dark sky where lovers never cry.

Tonight came right out said I love you and you sat there still as a stone I wanted to cry but just said goodbye walked out the door alone. When only one heart is breaking doesn’t make any sound; no other heart can hear it cause there’s no other heart around. True love, so precious and rare more than one heart alone can bear; so it speaks up and then goes quiet maybe hear an echo out there. Tonight all it heard was that single word always follows a quiet sigh; then all that silence forever on the other side of goodbye.

Break of Day 03:13
I got lost in the dark halfway to you Had tried everything I could think of to do, Looking for a way to get you to see The things I saw in you, in me. But nothing ever shows in the black of night And nothing comes of nothing, like they say. Just have to wait for dawn’s first light, Walk back home at the break of day. I’m happy for you, happy for me, nothing more either one of us needs to be. Gonna find a way for me to see The things I saw in you, in me. Because nothing ever shows in the black of night And nothing comes of nothing, like they say. Just have to wait for dawn’s first light, Walk back home at the break of day. Because nothing ever shows in the black of night And nothing comes of nothing, like they say. Just have to wait for dawn’s first light, Walk back home at the break of day.

as a boy I had it all figured such a perfect plan everything I wanted when I’d become a man. All the moves I’d ever need to win the game, who would fall in love with me and how I’d make my name. Well, life has it own ideas, what you’re supposed to be; doesn’t seem to matter whether you agree. You hear a soft voice calling from a path you didn’t see, then someone else’s life unwinds so unexpectedly. Hard to say if you got lost or were just set free. I’m happy now I listened to that call; I got nothing I thought I wanted and I had it all. I’m happy now I listened to that call; I got nothing I thought I wanted and I had it all.

Breakup 02:59
Ice is melting water set free trickles mingle soon to be torrents pouring toward the sea A hardened heart doesn’t heal it softens steel annealed until it warms enough to feel Goodbye, such a brutal word you didn’t say it it’s what I heard something frozen in me stirred back to life all these years still alone still the fears still no answers still some tears but happy, peaceful flowing free trickles mingling soon to be torrents pouring toward the sea Ice is melting water set free trickles mingle soon to be torrents pouring toward the sea

about

This is my third Olympia-based album. I wrote five of the songs in June (2019) and the other two in the previous winter months. The album has kind of a country/40s Big Band vibe to it, different key for the guitar, different voice register, not sure why. I haven't decided yet what to make of it, but I like to listen to the songs, so I'm leaving it  up for now.
